Dorothy Day

If you think it’s novel to see a sign that says grumpy customers will be charged extra, then this place is for you. The walls are covered with signs that I would call kitschy, but I’m not from these parts.

Despite giving the impression of a tourist trap, the food is above average. All the southern breakfast standards are here. If I was being picky, however, I’d say the bell peppers in my omelette were crunchy and undercooked, as well as my homemade biscuit, which was doughy inside.

Annoyingly, the server will not take your payment. Instead, you have to stand in line at the front counter and wait your turn to pay. This causes a traffic congestion by the front door of customers waiting for a table or waiting to pay their bill.

A different kind of sign is posted outside the door (see photo). I’m thankful no customers got into arguments while I was there.
