I’ve eaten MANY breakfasts at MANY different places throughout the country and Southern Charm Cafe may possibly take the #1 Spot for Most Delicious Breakfast in the last 20 years. It is the the Country Style food you think you’re going to get when you’re starving and you drive up to Cracker Barrel. It is the Southern Food you only get when you visit your Country Aunt in the Deep South with the slow southern drawl as thick as her sweet tea that’s been steeping for two days. It is as friendly and as supportive as your kindergarten teacher who comforted you the first time you were away from your sweet, beautiful mama and you didn’t know what to do with so many choice in life. Seriously, it is THAT good. Was the coffee good? Yes. But they ain’t a coffee shop. Was my omelet good? YEEEEE! I like mine with spinach and they stuffed so much in mine that Popeye called and said he was coming over to get him some! Was the bacon crispy and thick? YES and YES! So think Fred Flintstone pulled away from his brontosaurus ribs and said, “Dang that is thick!” But let me tell you the #1 reason you want to visit the Southern Charm Cafe: THE BISCUITS & GRAVY! Go there, order them. Thank me later. Hands down, no doubt, absolute certainty: Best Biscuits & Gravy that ever graced the planet earth. You’ve never had it this good The biscuits are HUGE and HOT and FLUFFY and the gravy has some secret sauce that I pondered for at least a quarter hour and could not identify. I dunno if it is mayo or some ancient Southern herb concealed for generations or what it was. This place completely owns the Biscuits & Gravy action and everyone else can only aspire to come in second place at best when Southern Charm comes to the contest. It’s good. So good. Service was GREAT. Place is decorated a bit kooky, like my weird Mom had an unlimited budget at a Flea Market and bought as many kooky signs as she could carry. But I’d put up with eating in a subway station bathroom if they served food like this. If you don’t like it, you need to see neurologist because something is very much wrong with your head.
